We're back with two new redesigns:
"With my design, I attempted to incorporate what I know of the character, I see her as a smart, sassy woman who is more than capable of handling herself. Inspired by Japanese fashion, I wanted to incorporate Felicia's fun side. With the cat-ear hoodie, I decided to go a bit more 'street' with the look, knowing that she is a thief and a very capable hand-to-hand combatant. It's a bit more practical. Gone is the plunging neckline, but the small sections of exposed skin still keep the sexyness and femininity we know and love. The fur boots and fur trimmings around the arms tie into the old look, and hopefully make her recognizable as the Black Cat."

"I think that the real difference between Felicia and Catwoman is that, though both had a tough pasts, Felicia overcame it. She steals, swings across the city, teases Spidey... just for fun! With that in mind, her outfit should be practical, sexy, urban, and casual. That´s why I hid the grappling hook under the sleeves, and why I added some metal rings for harnesses."

I like the simplicity of this. The hood is also very cool and sets her apart from her DC counterpart as far as head-wear goes.
ReplyDeleteAH! Hector's design is definately a winner for me! Cyber sleek chick. Love the accessories and the cute paw boots.
ReplyDeletevery nice hector, this design is spectacular. i love the chic and sophisticated style of it. it really embraces the thrill seeking independently wealthy aspect of her character.
ReplyDeleteI like the cat-smiley zipper on Jamie's design!
ReplyDeleteHector's design feels slightly militaristic; it makes me think of an older Felicia Hardy who's become an agent of SHIELD or something.
I didn't notice the smiley zipper. There are some hidden gems in some of these pieces!
ReplyDeleteI missed the smiley zipper too. Everyone's really putting in their creativity neat touches in giving Felica more character. Nice!
ReplyDeleteHector shows us the way to Wintown with his redesign. Lady Gaga by way of Emma Peel, with a little Jet Set Radio on top. The Cat Eye goggles would be boring if not for the amazing Cat Ear headphones. The paw adidas are great until you count the number of toes, then they become creepy.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with this character is how do you balance the sexpot aspect of the character without making it stripper trash. Even though Felicia is zipped to the neck, this is still sexy. He even gives her a shirt to keep horny artists from unzipping his design. Bravo to restraint.
My only complaint is the design's details aren't pushed far enough. I would have loved to see how the ears work from another angle. Do they flare out or remain flat? But wanting to know more is a sure sign of having the beginnings of a winning design.
I really dig Hector's vision. It's utilitarian without being bulky and with the jacket on she could almost blend into a crowd on the streets of Manhattan. The subtle touches like the clawed gloves, trademark fur collar and the cat's paw trainers are understated enough that they are not the first thing you see but you do see them.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to get a rep for movie comparisons but Hector's work brings Ridley Scott's Blade Runner to mind.
Great stuff!
I think Hector's is gorgeous -- I love the change in her hairstyle, almost reminiscent of Art Deco dames from the 20's, which coupled with the styling gives Black Cat a distinctly retro futuristic vibe that I can't help but wish I had thought of first.
