Atom Eve Results - Part VIII

This is it! The final batch of Atom Eve redesigns for the SHotM/BSR! contest!

Dimitrios Kasdaglis
"Trying to move away from Atom Eve's established logo and color, I played instead visually with her alias. New symbol, new colors."

Peter Leynes
"I figure that Eve has a good sense of style so she would like her costume to look more fashionable that superhero-y. I happen to like the look of a trenchcoat with a skirt so I tried to give Eve's costume a similar silhouette."

Michelle Sciuto
Editor's Note: Michelle didn't leave us any thoughts on her Atom Eve.

Christopher Duran
"I was really trying to come at it from another direction by almost completely abandoning her previous color scheme. I wanted the outfit to have a more science-y feel to it. I played with the design of the logo to have a more subtle homage to the atom then her previous design. As far as the look of Samantha, I wanted her hair to be more prominate and flowing. In a way the visor and hair is a little nod to my initial idea of making her outfit more like a Sailor Scout's."

Mark Hartman
Editor's Note: Mark didn't leave us any thoughts on his Atom Eve.

Tommy Smith

"Since Eve and Invincible have started Invincible Inc., I figure she might go for a look a little closer to Mark's and maybe something a little more utilitarian. There are echoes of Invincible's costume, like the boots and gloves, but it's still her own. As she'll be seeing more action, I figure she might braid her hair instead of having it flying everywhere. I'm going for athletic, but still feminine. Plus, I didn't want it to be too complex a costume to draw panel after panel."

Ally Cat
"I modified her costume a bit to reflect Atom Eve's age. I wanted to tone down the use of pink and see how that worked out as she can manipulate things to start a new and white is 'virginal' (despite how we all know that Eve's gotten it on, her power gives her a chance to clean slate, or make things "grow" and change). Did away with the slipper/sailor moon boots, but had to keep the cape (despite it being a hinder during battles and a weak point when trying to flee)! Her logo is different as well, which is a modified nuclear fission illustration, but with little female symbols. (I am always tempted to turn her into a villan! She has so much potential for evil! With great power comes great responsibility!) A few air vents to show some skin. I love the shoes!"

  4. Dimitrios is probably the bravest with his design, he really went out on a limb to try to make the character his own. you have to respect that. not even the same pallet or anything and its still a lot of fun. very unique spin.

Peter's is really neat, too. I really like that he matured the character a little bit, she looks very bold and confident and and i was always a big fan of capes that come out of the outfit like that.

Michelle's is just bursting with energy, there's a lot of youth in her version, and the color scheme is something i would have never thought of. The artist did a great job of making sure you have no choice but to notice the piece. very loud!

Christopher did some really unique thing here, the costume is something out of nowhere. Though knowing the character makes it a "god, i kinda wish they did this instead" situation. Definitely a brilliant spin.

Mark's is simple but effective. it's a neat costume demo presented in a very distinct graphic style. Most of the charm out of his piece is the lack of intrusive lines that could have easily ruined the clear direction of this piece.

Tommy made it clear on his piece that his style is fine tuned for the action genre. Every part of this picture is dynamic without seeming busy. This guy /needs/ to do comics.

Ally's art here is super chic. This seems like it should be a print hanging over a super expensive, super trendy couch. It's very art deco and James Bond cool. Lends itself just as much to sophisticated art as it does comic piece.

(there! i addressed everyone, cuz everyone is special :D)

  5. I love Duran's atom design, although I wish he'd have stuck with pink i instead of yellow. Although the strategy of changing colors does do the trick of making it stand out amid all the more classic designs.
