Submissions keep rolling in for the
Superhero of the Month &
Girls Gone Geek Starfire contest! Check out the newest batch of entries below:
"I thought I'd go a little 'Disney Princess' with it. I tried to mix aspects of the George Perez design and the animated series version."
"I wanted to draw a Starfire."
"I like the idea of a skirt with handkerchief corners mirroring the
symbol in her chest. I don't think she'd be worried about the whole
'people seeing up my skirt' issue, in the same way gymnasts and dancers
aren't worried about that."
"I was going for regal and feline with a bit of 1950's femme. The headdress goes under instead of over and so 'shushes' the hair up. It is a soft-cloth type of costume, a onesie with a snoody kind of halterneck, with a peek of cleavage and a strap to keep things steady. If I could fly I would'nt wear shoes very often, so the feet have a pop-sock stlye cover on them. If you're a hard bad@$$, you don't need hard-wear! Just some alien, indestructible cloth!"

"My Starfire redesign is more of a simple look, since her outfits are always so complex."
"So I always hear people justifying Kory's scanty costumes by saying 'she
likes being naked!' But I figured the most comfortable way to be naked
is to be barefoot! Starfire can fly, so why should her feet ever touch
the ground? For the rest of the costume, I figured she should have good
airflow, but a top to keep her boobs snug and in place. Also she has big
80's hair because I love her big 80's hair."
What do you all think? Let us know in the comments! The variation in styles and interpretations we're seeing is great! To send us your Starfire, check out the
Official Contest Announcement for details, and be sure to

I like the David Willis design's overtly friendly and fun personality, but also EmmJ's costume design. Overall great entries so far!
ReplyDeleteI've been thrilled with the many styles we've seen so far, on top of the fantastic designs. This is one of my favorite contests yet!
ReplyDeleteIf Starfire still likes like she does when the reboot first happened, she needs tovswitch to one of those costumes, like, right now.
ReplyDeleteCan I vote for Arielle Sorkinator's submission a billion times over? I LOVE IT. I love the idea of her being barefoot (she's not the martial arts kind of fighter so shoes aren't really needed) and nothing says 'free and casual' like bare feet!
ReplyDeleteI also love the whole of the outfit. It's simple, a bit sexy but not in the dolled up stripper way at all. It also looks comfortable and easy to fight in.
the boots/gloves in Sarah Meissner's are EPIC! The whole costume is both feminine and yet incredibly frightening!
ReplyDeleteLoving David Willis' here!
ReplyDeleteArielle Sorkinator may have drawn my favourite Starfire ever. She looks happy and strong and yeah, more than a little bit sexy! Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic contest! Phillip Rice's Starfire brings back many happy memories -- that top is aces -- but the skirt is impractical even for Kori.
ReplyDeleteI love everything about David Willis'. It's flirty, it's fun, and it's badass.
EmmJ's design is pretty, but looks too much like sleepwear to my eyes.
Caroline Gallagher's is really mellow and fun -- I like it a lot, and would love to see it in a more finished sketch.
I love the boots on Sarah Meissner's, but the overall uniform feels too much like the senselessly "it stays up because we say it does" sex-kittenish things from canon.
Arielle Sorkinator's design makes me grin every time I see it. I love Kori in more clothes rather than less, but I have to admit that this design is incredibly happy-making. And I want to pinch her toes.
