Alex Smith's Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn is, without a doubt, one of my favorite characters in the DCU. She's so delightfully demented, so I enjoy seeing different artists take a stab at her. So you can imagine my excitement when this amazing rendition by Alex Smith came our way:

Alex Smith's Harley Quinn
"I went at this from the stand-point that for some reason I had no choice and it had to be done. Let's be honest, her classic costume needs no update. I wanted to keep elements of the classic costume, keep it practical and make it look like she'd be able to move in it. I went with the glasses to give her a smart, sexy doctor kind of look and combined it with a cool punk hairstyle that is sort of shaped like her old cowl. I kept the belt and pouches, cuz a girl needs a place to keep all her laughing gas and exploding cigars. It's meant to be functional and sexy without being blatantly slutty or sexist."

This is such a happy medium between classic Harley and Arkham Harley who, while I loved, definitely played up the sexy factor. If Harley's costume had to change for the New 52, it should have been something like this, not the ridiculous outfit she now wears.
